SOMEONE ELSE'S ACCIDENT CAN GET YOUR LICENSE SUSPENDED.

In Florida, if you let someone borrow your car and they cause an accident, you are just as responsible as if you were driving the car. In fact, if you evade service or if you can't be served at the address on your driver license because you don't live there anymore, the State of Florida will accept service on your behalf. The Plaintiff can then proceed to judgment and your license will be suspended until the debt is paid in full. In many cases the the Plaintiff may accept payment arrangements but they may require a large down payment and hefty monthly payments but this is entirely up to the Plaintiff. See Florida Statute 48.171.
