POLICE CAN'T TELL IF SHATTERED GLASS ON PROCESS SERVER'S CAR WAS CAUSED BY BULLET OR ROAD DEBRIS.

This past Thursday at 3:00pm, a window shattered on a county car driven by a process server. The process server was injured by fragments and she is in stable condition at Jackson Hospital. Ddoctors are going to surgically remove as much of the fragments as they can from her arm but pre-surgical diagnosis was that some fragments will have to remain inside her arm.

Initial reports from the Miami-Dade Police were that they did not know why a county car window shattered, causing non-life threatening injuries to the process server inside. Initially it was believed that a bullet may have caused the shattered glass but the police also confirmed that they still could not rule out road debris. However, soon after detectives were on the scene, SWAT investigated and evacuated a residential building nearby. Police will not state if the process server was serving process in that building before the incident. Furthermore, it is unclear if SWAT's presence and investigation was due to an abundance of caution as police initially stated that road debris may have caused the shattered glass, or if police did not want to reveal too much information of an ongoing investigation because they knew a shooter was responsible and they did not want to tip him off. Only time may tell.

One thing is clear. There is never a dull moment serving process in Miami.
