On June 16, 2025, a troubling incident occurred in Dania Beach that highlights the ongoing risks faced by process servers. A licensed Broward County process server was physically attacked while attempting to serve legal documents at a residential address. The server suffered a fractured nose and facial injuries during the altercation. Fortunately, after receiving medical care, they are now recovering at home.

The incident took place at 1555 SW 12th Avenue, Apartment 8. The process server approached the residence to serve documents to a male individual identified as Leinz Robertson Baptiste, who was seen on the phone near the rear of the building. Shortly after, a woman—later identified as Kerline Baptiste—emerged from the apartment and physically assaulted the process server, striking them multiple times and knocking them to the ground.

Kerline Baptiste was arrested on the scene and is now facing charges for Aggravated Battery and Resisting an Officer with Violence.

We urge all process servers and legal support professionals to be especially cautious when attempting service at this address or when dealing with either Leinz or Kerline Baptiste. The situation remains active, as there is a pending civil case involving Kerline Baptiste. Efforts are underway to determine if a particular server or agency has been assigned to that case so that they can be informed of the risks.

This incident is a stark reminder of the unpredictable nature of our work. Please stay alert, trust your instincts, and prioritize your safety above all else.

If you have any information about the individuals involved or if you're assigned to serve documents at this location, proceed with caution and consider requesting law enforcement backup when appropriate.

Stay safe out there.
